No-Bake Easter Bird’s Nest Cookies
A no-bake Easter treat that will have everyone tweeting! And with only 4 ingredients this recipe couldn’t be any easier for kids to create. These sweet nests are a yummy way to highlight all the delights gathered from egg hunts or Easter baskets. Not to mention that these colorful nests look great on the table as decoration too! Although these nests might be a little bit messier than your average robin’s nest, they are much tastier! And just as birds adapt and add new bits and pieces from their flights, you can adapt this recipe by adding more ingredients like coconut flakes, peanuts, or even raisin bran!
Time: 15 minutes to assemble, 20 minutes to chill
Makes: 12 servings
Ingredients:
1 12-ounce bag milk chocolate chips
1 12-ounce bag butterscotch chips
1 12-ounce bag of chow mein noodles
1 cup of shredded wheat cereal, broken up into smaller pieces
Chocolate eggs, jelly beans, or berries to fill the nest
Directions:
Grease a muffin tin and set aside.
In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and butterscotch chips together, stirring every 30 seconds. You can also melt the chips in a double-boiler.When the chips are melted and smooth, stir in chow mein noodles and broken-up shredded wheat cereal. Spoon the nest mixture into the greased muffin tins and mold into the shape of birds’ nests. To firm nests more quickly, place them in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes.
When the chocolate and butterscotch have firmed, remove the bird’s nests from the muffin tins and place on a plate. Fill the nests with sweet treats and enjoy!
